There is no other organisation comparable to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) which is doing such excellent work in various spheres. The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this while speaking at a programme held on NCC Day here on Saturday.

Rawat said that completing 69 years of its existence, the NCC is moving ahead to fulfill the aims with which it was established.

The chief minister said that for the service of the nation along with strength of the mind, a healthy body is also important. He said that at a young age, Swami Vivekanand had spread knowledge about Hinduism, Indian culture and asceticism on the global platform showing the greatness of Indian culture and traditions. NCC is one such organisation which conducts awareness programmes in society as part of its work in the interest of the nation and state. It is necessary to empower women and men equally for the all round development of the nation, he said. Stressing on the need to give a more elaborate form to NCC training, the chief minister asked the NCC additional director general, major general C Meena to prepare a project report on the establishment of an NCC academy in Uttarakhand. He further said that about two to three per cent raise had been made in the permissible fuel rates for vehicles used in NCC training camps in Uttarakhand, permissible allowance for assistant NCC officers, ANOs involved in NCC training camps and daily allowance rates for NCC cadets travelling by train or road. The state administration had also released government orders regarding this, he added. Rawat also felicitated 40 cadets for commendable works in various fields including shooting, mountaineering, various social activities, naval camps and other activities. The chief minister also released the NCC’s annual publication Sankalp on the occasion. Along with the cadets, the NCC ADG major general C Meena, DDG brigadier PS Bains and other officers were also present on the occasion.
