THDC disinvestment; Congress cries foul

Published on:

The Opposition Congress party has questioned the motive of Government for disinvestment of THDC India Limited (THDCIL). The spokesperson of the Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dassauni, said that the THDC figures in the list of five companies, which the Union Government has decided to sale its stake.

She said that it is unfortunate that the Government is trying to privatise/ disinvest a company for which an entire city was submerged and thousands of people were forced to migrate. The Congress leader said that the present status of THDCIL should not be disturbed as its merger would ensure that its existence is finished forever.

She also accused the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat of misguiding the people of the State on the issue. Dasauni added that the disinvestment and privatisation of THDCIL raises questions as it a company which is earning profit for the country. She said that if the decision is not reversed than the people of the state would be forced to start an agitation.
