Terminated lab staff hold Budhi Shudhi Yagya

Frustrated by the continued ‘ignorance’ of the State Government of their demand for reinstatement, the laboratory/office assistants association of Uttarakhand has organised a Budhi Shudhi Yagya at Old Raipur bus stand here on Sunday. These office and laboratory assistants employed as outsourcing workers under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) are staging a sit in at the protest site in Old Raipur bus stand from last many days.

On Sunday, many members of the association gathered at the protest site and participated in the Yagya aimed at invoking the god to impart better sense in the State Government. The Education department had recently removed 1,256 outsource employees as the Central Government had stopped funding their salaries. These employees are now demanding that the State Government should reinstate their services. Speaking on the occasion, State president of Association Gambhir Singh Bisht said the arbitrary decision of the State Government has put the livelihood of hundreds of people in peril. He said the 1,256 office and laboratory assistants were working in different parts of the State from last three years and the Government’s decision had forced them to adopt the path of agitation. The president of the association said the State Government should immediately cancel the letters sent to the heads of the school and create new contractual posts for them. Bisht also threatened that the members of the association would be forced to intensify their agitation if their demand was not accepted. The association would organise a secretariat march on Monday.
