With health department reporting 58 new cases of dengue on Monday the number of dengue cases in the State capital this season has jumped to 263. Amid increase in number of dengue cases the health department of the state capital still appears in non active mode.
When asked about sudden increase in the number of Dengue positive cases on Monday, the District Vector Borne Diseases Officer, J P Bahuguna said that the reports of the Enzyme linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ElISA) tests of large number of samples were pending for last four days so the increase in number of cases was on expected lines. He claimed that many newly reported cases are from outside the district. Bahuguna revealed that 12 positive cases are traced to Tehri district.
Meanwhile, the availability of platelets for dengue patients is also being monitored by the district health officials. The patients of dengue need regular transfusion of platelets as their number deplete alarmingly causing internal bleed which can cause death of the patient.
The district health officials claimed that 184 units of platelets are available on Monday in different blood banks. However the availability of the platelets for negative blood groups is still a problem. On Monday Nine units of A – blood, one unit of B-, two units of O- and two units of AB- were available in the blood banks on Monday. The department officials claimed that to replenish the stock of blood the department is organising a series of blood donation camps.
On October 1 four different camps would be organised in the State capital.
