The situation near a place of worship in Dhamawala is reported to be under control on Tuesday after tension erupted between the members of two communities on Monday night over some members of a particular community objecting to the boundary wall of the place of worship being raised, alleging that the place of worship is located in a Government-owned land.

As members of both the communities had assembled in large number police had baton- charged the crowd. Police said that some people from a particular community being engaged in raising the height of boundary wall around their place of worship to stop the accumulated rain water from entering the premises, the members of the other community raised objection, citing that the particular place of worship was located in encroached land legally under the ownership of a Government department.

“Members of both the communities assembled at the site, generating tension in the area. With the tension mounting, additional police forces and Provincial Armed Constabulary jawans were rushed to the spot. We had to charge batons to disperse the crowd. Things are under control now,” said the police station in-charge DBD Juyal on Tuesday.  It is also learnt that some senior administration and police officers had reached the spot on Monday night after tension erupted.
