Temperature to remain constant for next 7 days

Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre officer said that there would be no appreciable dip in the mercury in the next seven days while forecasting that there would be no rainfall during that period. Presently, both the maximum and the minimum temperatures are running a few notches above the normal.  At another remove, dearth of rainfall during this time-a natural phenomenon as per the meteorologists-is worrying the farmers as the protracted dry spell would affect sowing of wheat and other crops.

The Met director Bikram Singh said that the maximum and minimum temperatures have remained around four degrees and two degrees above the normal respectively in the plain districts for the past few days. In mountainous districts, things are almost the same with the maximum and minimum temperatures remaining around three degrees and two degrees above the normal. He said it feels cold when the dawn breaks, during the dusk and the late night hours. But the nip in the air, deemed natural during this time of the year, is yet absent, he said. There is no sign of western disturbances now that spawns rains, resulting in the mercury to dip sufficiently to make the winter feel real, he added.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were reported as 28.7°C and 10.6°C respectively in Dehradun on Tuesday.
