Temp plummets, traffic disrupted in Kumaon

Published on:

Rain continuing since Thursday night has resulted in a dip in the temperature.

The hardships faced by the people were compounded as the power supply remained disrupted for over three hours on Friday afternoon. The weather worsened after a fortnight across Kumaon division. Things remaining relatively warm during December-end helped  the people, including the tourists, to celebrate New Year Day appropriately in the lake city of Nainital  and other places of the region.

However, there are some tourists who looked delighted with weather having changed from relative warmth to bone-chilling cold. It was already cold in the higher reaches of the region, but the current spell of rain has caused the mercury plummet significantly in the rather warm Terai belt of Uttarakhand. However, the rain disrupted life with the visibility getting poor. Roads being fog-bound resulted in the office-goers reporting late. The schoolchildren were exulted as winter vacation stared from I January. Water-logging caused traffic to crawl in Haldwani. Haldwani- Kaladhungi Road, Haldwani- Bareli Road and some others were water-logged on Friday, throwing traffic haywire.
