Tearful end to a true love story

Published on:

living in a fragile world where people end relationships, meant for life, at the drop of their hats a youngster has set a sterling example of love, which means total self giving, for all to emulate. His wife, afflicted with a kidney ailment, lived on for some four years on the kidney given by her husband. lending the story of self-giving an extremely poignant touch, the wife breathed her last on Tuesday, just a day before the people celebrate the festival of St Valentine’s Day across the world.

Desperate to save his beloved wife from the jaws of death, creeping its way inexorably, he kept on knocking the door of every hospital, the chamber of every nephrologist. However, all his efforts proved futile, as destiny had its way as she melted into nothingness, shattering the world of her husband, made of love and self-giving, to pieces.  However, the tear-filled story of the pristine love of an ordinary machine operator working in a factory would remain deathless for the world where love in its true sense is fast becoming an anachronism of sorts.

“ I did everything to help her survive. But death has finally had its way, plunging me and our eight-year-son son in a world of gloom.

How the child would live now, robbed of the love which his mother alone can giveIJ   I gave away my kidney in 2014 in a hospital in Delhi, but unfortunately, the transplant was not successful,” said Ritesh, the bereaved husband, eyes flooded with tears, after he consigned the body of his wife Archana to flames at Sati Ghat in Kankhal  in the presence of his relatives, neighbours and the employees of the factory he is working in- a medicine manufacturing unit of Divya Pharmacy run by Baba Ramdev.

An employee of the account department of the factory, Manoj Yadav said that Ritesh is courage incarnate. “He gave his kidney without thinking for a moment about its consequences for himself.  He tried every possible means to help his wife live on. But... However, the story of his love would continue to inspire the people who have ceased to love the way they should,” he said, eyes glistening in unshed tears.
