Teachers' transfer to be completed by the end of July

The Education department said that the long- awaited transfer process of the teachers would be completed by the end of this month. It is estimated that over 1000 teachers would be transferred by the department.

Confirming the department’s determination to effect the transfers of teachers, the Director General (DG) school education, Captain Alok Shekhar Tiwari said that issues related to grading of the schools on the basis of easy to access ( Sugam) and hard to access( Durgam) categories have been sorted out and the process of transfers of teachers would soon start.

He added that transfers of officers of the department have been done as per the provisions of the Transfer Act-2017. Tiwari, further, said that the golden formula of ‘maximum benefit’ for the students would be followed while transferring teachers in which the interests of students would be kept in priority.

It is learnt that the senior officers of the department have rejected the idea mooted by the Education Minister Arvind Pandey to undertake a counselling session regarding transfer of teachers.

The department officials told the Minister that counselling for compulsory transfers would act as an impediment in the transfer process to be done according to the policy of benefit to students while posting teachers.

The issue of transfers in education department has been hanging fire due to many complexities and stir of the teachers’ associations.

The department has so far sought three extensions from the State Government to complete the process of transfers. According to the Transfer Act -2017, the process of transfers should have got completed by June 10.

The problem of the Education Department is that glaring errors occurred in the process of categorization of the schools into Sugam and Durgam.

It has resulted in a scenario where many schools which earlier were in Sugam were marked in Durgam and vice versa, creating problems for the department to determine total stay of an employee at Sugam and Durgam schools.
