The Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the association of Government school lecturers and lecturer Teachers (lTs) has decided to boycott the coming State board examination to put pressure on the State Government to get their demands accepted.

A meeting of State working committee of the association was held at Dehradun on Tuesday.

In the meeting it was decided that since the education department is not heeding to their demands they have no choice but to declare their non cooperation in the ensuing board examination of Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP). The class X and XII board examination of UVSP is slated to start from March 03 and boycott of lecturers and lTs could cause a major problem for conduction of the all important examination.

Confirming the decision, the State general secretary of the RSS, Sohan Singh Majila told The Pioneer that the body has unanimously taken the decision to boycott the board examination.

The association is demanding that the State Government should bring in a transparent transfer act in the education department so that the harassment and favoritism in the name of transfers are stopped.

The association is also demanding that the process of long delayed promotions in the department should start and the government should implement Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme for the teachers.

The association is up in arms against the department’s policy of appointing Guest lecturers in accessible areas. The lecturers are also demanding that they should be given the benefit of three Earned leaves (Els).

The association is particularly peeved in the manner in which it is being treated by the State Government. “We have only got assurances till date but nothing concrete was done by the government on these assurances. Now it appears that the association has taken a final call of confrontation for its legitimate rights,’’ said one of a lecturers.
