Teachers stage dharna

Incensed over apathetic attitude of the State Government towards their pending demands, Uttarakhand Junior High School Teachers’ Union staged a demonstration outside Education Directorate and raised anti-Government slogans on Monday.

Scores of teachers and union office bearers under the banner of UJHSTU assembled outside the directorate and raised slogans against State Government and demanded fulfillment of pending demands. The protesters warned that they will intensify their protest across the state if their demands are not met soon.

The union president Jagat Singh Negi alleged that several memorandums highlighting pending demands were submitted to the education officers and education minister but government has turned a deaf ear.

"Our demands include rectification in irregularities on categorisation of schools located in inaccessible and accessible area; teachers should not be deployed on census, distribution of new ration card forms and other government works," he said.
