To fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi, teachers should work with responsibility in their schools so that each child can get basic education before they think about their earnings. Uttarakhand Governor Dr Aziz Qureshi said this after inaugurating three-day annual conference of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Dehradun on Thursday.

Speaking in the conference, the Governor said that teachers should lay emphasis on providing quality education in their schools. “As citizens of India, we should work for providing opportunities to the children belonging to weaker and deprived section of society so that Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a developed India can be fulfilled. Our education system should be made in such as way that each child is made capable of choosing higher education in place of struggling to earn a livelihood,” he added.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan regional office deputy commissioner SS Chauhan said that the KVS was established in 1963 with an aim to provide quality education to students in the schools. He highlighted the organisation's objectives, workings and achievements on the occasion.

The objective of this conference is to discuss the annual programmes and their execution apart from discussing new policies. Chauhan said that the five schools in the state are being operated on temporary basis as state government has not allocated lands for these schools. Following this, Governor assured that he would direct the state government to address this issue on priority basis. Around 48 Kendriya Vidyalaya principals also attended the conference.
