Irked with the State Government for allegedly releasing teachers’ transfer list under Uttarakhand Teachers’ Transfer Policy without rectifying irregularities in categorisation of Government schools located in most inaccessible area, assessable area and most accessible area, the Government primary school teachers protested at district education office, Dehradun on Wednesday.
However, Uttarakhand Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani said that the education officers have been directed to take action against those teachers who were named in the transfer list but have not joined their new appointments within said time.
“In consultation with education officers, school principals and the representatives of various teachers’ unions, we have rectified irregularities which existed earlier in the categorisation of schools located in accessible or inaccessible areas in the State.
Finally, the education department had drafted Uttarakhand Teachers’ Transfer Policy-2013 and teachers’ transfer list was released recently," he said.
According to him, teachers’ complaints regarding irregularities in categorisation of schools will be heard and action will be taken against the education officers who had erred.Agitated teachers warned that they will intensify their protests across the state unless Government withdraws its transfer list soon.
Earlier, on Tuesday some BJP MlAs protested outside the Chief Minister’s residence and demanded deployment of teachers in those schools where teachers are less than government standards.
According BJP MlAs, Government has released teachers’ transfer list but teachers have not joined in their new appointments.
They also cited irregularities in categorisation of schools located in inaccessible, accessible areas drafted by the education officers and demanded rectification.
Moreover, teachers alleged that government has released teachers’ transfer list at a wrong time as in all the schools, half yearly examination is about to start. They said that the transferred teachers whose children are about to appear for exams will face inconvenience.
The teachers alleged that there are several schools which were demarcated as most inaccessible or inaccessible by the education department in past years but in the transfer policy, these schools are demarcated as accessible.
Teachers who worked in these schools in the past did not benefit in terms of working experience in inaccessible area.
