Teachers protest against Govt order

Opposing the Government order directing teachers to sign the attendance register twice in a day and remain in their respective departments for at least five hours a day, teachers of various Government colleges and Government aided colleges under the banner of Federation of Uttarakhand University Colleges Teacher’s Association (FUUCTA) staged a protest in the DAV (PG) college campus and demanded withdrawal of this GO without delay on Thursday. This agitation is also being supported by Garhwal University Teacher’s Association (GUTA).

GUTA and FUUCTA spokesperson Alok Srivastava said that teachers of all the Government and Government aided colleges have been performing their duties with black ribbon round their arms in their respective colleges since Wednesday. The associations are opposing GO directing teachers to sign the attendance register twice in a day and remain in their respective departments for at least five hours in a day. As of now, all the college teachers will sign the attendance register once in a day. “We have decided to continue our protest by tying black ribbons on arms till January 28 and later completely boycott work in our respective colleges if demands are not met,” he warned.

College teaching staff state that they are feeling insulted as inspection will be done of their work by district officers which is wrong and against University guidelines for the Government aided colleges.
