The Association of teachers appointed under Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and federation of Shiksha Acharyas organised marches to the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday. There attempts were however foiled by a strong posse of policemen.

On the day large number of Shiksha Acharyas assembled at the protest site near parade ground. The president of the association, Devendra Bisht said that the State Government has given many assurances to them in past that the serving Shiksha Acharyas would be converted into Shiksha Mitras but despite Cabinet decisions the Government Orders (GO) for the same is never released. He said that the SAs would intensify their agitation in coming days. The members of the federation then started a march to the CM residence but they were arrested soon after they left the protest site and taken to police lines where they were released.

The association of PTA teachers also organised a march to CM residence. The media in-charge of the association, Ashiwini Kumar Gupta said that the association is demanding that all the 461 PTA teachers should be given ad hoc appointment as per the order of High Court (HC). The State Government pays a monthly stipend of ` 15000 to these candidates. He said that it is unfortunate that the state government is not heeding to their demands but on the pressure created by Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani, it has hiked the stipend of volunteer teachers to ` 10000. The association of PTA teachers is camping at the protest site from last some days in support of their single point agenda.
