District education officer, basic, KS Rawat has terminated the services of assistant teacher Manoj Singh, posted at a primary school at Bharatpur in Thallisain, with a case being registered against him with the revenue police on Monday for his alleged submission of fake degree and other certificates during the time of his appointment.
Rawat told The Pioneer that 180 assistant teachers had been appointed for the primary schools in October 2014 and Manoj Singh was one of them. The education certificates, mark sheets and the degrees of all the appointees being verified, the fraud allegedly indulged in by Manoj Singh had come to light. “He was summoned to the district headquarters in Pauri and asked to explain. But he failed to satisfy the department officer. Then to probe further, the department personnel were sent to Meerut from where he had claimed to have received his degree of graduation.
However, Chaudhary Charan Singh University denied having issued the mark sheet and the degree to Singh. Hence the order to terminate his service. Besides, a case has been registered against him with the revenue police at Thallisain,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention that acting on the complaint lodged, alleging massive irregularities in the appointment in the aided private secondary schools in Pauri district in September 2013, director Education and district magistrate had ordered an inquiry into the appointment procedure of l.T (license in Teaching) grade and lecturer grade post in the different institutions.
After the report was submitted, the DM sent it to the State Government, saying that nearly 80 of such appointments had been made on forged documents. However, the State government is yet to act on it, the observers lament.
