In a meeting held in the Collectorate on Wednesday, the district magistrate Deepak Rawat has given several instructions to the company which has been given the project of laying gas pipe line by Bharat Gas Petroleum limited. He asked the company managers to work in tandem with the officials of the departments concerned and take NOCs from them.

Notably, the company would develop network of supply lines which will connect 16,900 households with piped natural gas in five years. This city gas distribution project would benefit nearly two million people in Haridwar district.

Directing the senior staff members of the company, DM said, “Do not dig at one stretch beyond 200 metres and fill the dug- out portions as soon as the pipeline is laid. Under no circumstances, the pipeline laying work would be allowed to disturb the Kanwar Mela pilgrims.”

last year in December, the Union minister of state (Independent Charge) Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan had launched awareness campaign for promoting use of natural gas. The Minister had assured that under the Centre’s Ujjwala Yojna, Uttarakhand would be connected to gas pipelines within two years. The campaign  had been organised by Haridwar Natural Gas Private limited.

Haridwar Natural Gas Pvt. ltd is a joint venture of Bharat Petroleum and GAIl, authorised to implement the city gas project at Haridwar district.  Home Delivery Network limited aims to cover nearly 2,305 sq.kms of Haridwar district which will include three areas-Dariyapur Dayalpur, Daluwala Khurd and Purwala Birsangpur- covering Haridwar, Roorkee and laksar tehsils.
