With Swaraj Abhiyan led by breakaway Aam Aadami Party (AAP) trio of Anand Kumar, Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, deciding to convert itself into a political party, the Uttarakhand unit of the proposed party would decide on its future political plans on August 28.
Addressing newsmen here on Monday, the State President of the Swaraj Abhiyan, Kamla Pant said that after brainstorming session on July 30 at Institutional club auditorium New Delhi, more than 700 delegates of the Swaraj movement decided to form a new political party. This party would be launched on October 02. She said that one of a leading luminary of Chipko movement Dr Shamsher Singh Bisht and founder of Peoples Science Institute, Ravi Chopra are members of the National Advisory Committee of the proposed party.
Pant informed that the party has decided to bring itself into the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) and has appointed Girish Nandgaonkar as public information officer of the party. The party has even appointed three internal lokpals. She claimed that this makes the new party different from other political parties.
On Uttarakhand, Pant claimed that the state party unit would take a final decision on fighting the upcoming assembly election. “The decision to participate the election would be taken by state party unit. We are not like other parties who are being dictated by the so called central leaders,’’ said Pant in an oblique reference to AAP.
In Uttarakhand the Swaraj movement has decided to focus on good educational system as axis of development, drug Free State and farming and farmers as tools of political indulgence.
