Suspense in explosive blast persists

A 35 year old woman was killed when an explosive detonated when she was trying to lift that round like ball in her house on Tuesday night. The incident happened in Dalupuri village of Laldhang area under the jurisdiction of Shyampur police station. The victim died on the spot while her mother in-law got seriously injured. The police are waiting for the ballistic and post mortem report and probe is on to ascertain how the explosive reached the house.

It is learnt that a resident of Shyampur Dalupuri village, Jeetram works as a labourer in forest department. When he was away for work his wife Yashoda and mother Chhoti Devi were at home. Both were sitting in the verandah of the house when a round ball like thing fell near them. When Yashoda took that object in her hand, there was a loud blast. When the neighbours and other people reached the house, they found that the hands of the woman were torn to pieces and her mother in-law was unconscious.

While Chhoti Devi said that the thing was dropped by a crow, the police are suspecting that such crude explosives are made in the homes to ward off animals that approach from the forest area. Speaking to The Pioneer, the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Janmejay Khanduri said that the object being dropped by a crow appears to be a story to save their skin. “Prima facie it seems that they must be making such explosives with some chemicals and it exploded leading to death. The post mortem and ballistic report shall reveal the actual truth. We have recovered certain objects from the site used for making such things. The probe is underway,” he added.
