Finally taking cognisance of the waterlogging during rains, lack of sanitation and inadequate facilities at the Inter State Bus Terminal here, the Chief Minister Harish Rawat has directed the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority officials to make a concrete work plan for improving management of the ISBT.
Paying a surprise visit to the terminal on Tuesday, the chief minister expressed dissatisfaction at the lack of sanitation and improper facilities for toilet and drinking water. He directed officials to take necessary measures for redressing problems being faced here.
Rawat directed the MDDA vice chairman R Meenakshi Sundaram and officials of the Ramky Group which manages the ISBT to take immediate steps for redressing the problem caused by water logging. He said that a pump should be used to drain out water to tackle water logging.
The CM further directed that senior officials of the company be called for a meeting and that strict instructions be issued.
Even after this, if no improvement is made in the management of the ISBT, the government will take strict action, said Rawat while also directing the MDDA officials to prepare a concrete work plan to improve management of the terminal. It is pertinent to mention here that the ISBT is often waterlogged during the rainy season.
Apart from this, improper sanitation and the inadequate or damaged facilities for toilet and drinking water also cause inconvenience to the travelers. Though these problems have been known for years, the authorities have so far failed to resolve these. It remains to be seen if the directions of the CM are executed effectively.
