Eight policemen, failing to cope with stress, committed suicide in various districts over the last four years. Four policemen died after committing suicide in 2014 while three such cases were reported in 2013. It was revealed in a report received from Police Headquarters.
State DGP BS Sidhu expressed concern over rising cases of suicide by policemen. "Considering the fact that job of police is very tough, some of them may not be able to cope with stress and end life through suicide. We are mulling to take help from professional psychologists to help the vulnerable overcome such self-destructive tendencies," he said, adding that a proposal will be sent to the State Government soon.
