Suggestions to hold polls in February floated

Published on:

The Central  Election Commission officers also met the leaders of the political parties. Most of them suggested the election be held in  February   instead of in January.

Notably, during the last Assembly election, there were complaints galore, the most important of them being lodged by the  BJP CM face and former CM  Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri, saying that they  had to find it very tough to file nomination papers as it snowed heavily around the time.

They said that the voters too had found it difficult to reach the polling booths, given  the roads remaining under snow.

It is learnt that  the election commission delegation would visit the state again  in  the second week of September of the  first week of October.
