Regarding the execution of the announcements made by the Chief Minister Harish Rawat, all departmental secretaries have been directed to submit proposals for the works which their departments are unable to execute due to fund crunch. The proposals should be submitted to the Chief Minister’s Announcements Cell by May 15.

This was disclosed by the Principal Secretary to CM Omprakash while interacting with the media persons at the State Secretariat on Friday. He further said most of the announcements are related to roads and they are being delayed due to want of forest clearance.

As per a rough estimate, we need Rs1,800 crore to construct all the roads as per the CM’s announcements. The PWD officials have been categorically asked to build the roads and forest department has also been asked to sort out the pending issue on priority basis.

He said “To execute the Chief Minister’s announcements, the State Government had earmarked Rs50 crore separate corpus in the last financial year and the fund was allocated for 75 announcements. All such works will be executed on the ground in the next few months. To ensure this, Rs4.5 crore has been allocated for the drinking water projects in Dehradun district alone.” He also said the State Government has allocated Rs50 crore separate corpus in this financial year.

He further said that as all the announcements are directly or indirectly related to the departments, the department must send their proposals to the Chief Minister’s Announcements Cell if they are unable to divert their fund to execute them.  If things face blocks due to fund crunch we would again seek extra funds in supplementary budget, he said.

As per the rough estimate, around 2,000 announcements were made since inception of the Congress-led Uttarakhand Government. Of them, around 600 announcements are related to PWD department. As the Chief Minister himself has been monitoring progress on his announcements around 50-60 percent announcements are being executed on the ground. Final result would be visible in the next six to eight months, he said.
