Mayur Vihar (Raipur) police post in-charge and sub-inspector Subodh Kumar was caught taking a bribe of Rs10,000 from Vikas Kumar, resident of Rajiv Nagar (Rajpur), by vigilance team, Dehradun sector, on Wednesday.
Kumar had demanded Rs25,000 from Vikas Kumar to sort out case in which a FIR was lodged against him in the Mayur Vihar police post over a minor dispute with his neighbour. Taking lesson from an incident wherein a Child Development Project Officer, Sahaspur Block, Manju Kanojiya was caught taking a bribe of Rs5,000 from a Anganwadi worker Kavita by vigilance team recently, Vikas Kumar had approached the vigilance Dehradun sector.
Taking cognisance of the complaint, SP Vigilance, VKS Karki formed the teams headed by Deputy SP Jaya Baloni and other members, including inspector M Barthwal, to verify the fact.
It was found correct. After seeking permission from the State Government, inspector Barthwal was asked to trap the accused. Subodh Kumar was caught taking a bribe of Rs10,000 in front of Government witnesses at 6.30 pm by vigilance team.
