Demanding Doon Hospital be freed from the Medical College and prompt initiatives to improve sanitation, provide drinking water and free medicines to the poor among others, scores of DAV students led by the students’ union leader Rahul Kumar served a memorandum to the medical superintendent (MS) of Doon Medical College Dr KK Tamta on Saturday.
Rahul Kumar alleged while talking to the reporters after serving the memorandum that since the time the district hospital was converted into the medical college, the doctors kept reaching late and not attending the patients at the appointed time the way they should. “The sanitation facilities at the hospital campus are in a poor shape. The facility lacks proper drinking water facilities,” he said. He further said that he had submitted a memorandum on April 30, demanding redressal of the above issues, but to no avail. “Patients from across the state are thronging to the state-run health facility for treatment. But things here are dismal, given the administration sitting on the long-pending issues plaguing the hospital. However, as we served the memorandum to the MS he assured that he would act on the grievances voiced by the memorandum,” he said.
Others present on the occasion were Jitendra Singh Bisht, Sachin Naithani, Shashwat Khanduri, Hani Sisodiya, Sumit, Digamber, Shivam and Surendra.
