Students to keep principal off DBS campus

Published on:

Trouble is expected in the DBS PG College when it will reopen on Wednesday as the student leaders are adamant on not allowing the college principal to enter the campus.

The student union organised a relay hunger strike in the college to press for their demand for removal of the College principal OP Kulshrestha. The student leaders sitting of the hunger strike are President Pankaj Negi, General Secretary Pravin Tomar, Nityanand, Ajay Pithwan and Asish Joshi.

The leader of National Students Union of India (NSUI), Nityanand told The Pioneer that the students are determined not to allow the Principal in the college.

He said that the role of Principal in giving out of the way admission to four students is established so he should resign immediately.  The NSUI leader threatened that the students would be forced to start indefinite hunger strike if their demands are not accepted soon.

The otherwise peaceful college was jolted with student agitation ever since some students smashed pots and furniture of inside the office of Principal on October 28.

The college is closed since then as the Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti consisting of members of both teaching and non teaching staff of the college is demanding that adequate action should be taken against the rowdy students. The student union is opposing closure of the college.

The Principal of the college has however denied any irregularity in the entire process of admissions and resolved to go to the college irrespective of the threat of the student leaders.
