Meanwhile, some teachers and students of DAV (PG) College and DBS (PG) College were seen discussing more on demerits rather highlighting merits after formation of new university. In the discussions, teachers were opposing college management’s decision on formation of new university because this will lead of privatisation of education. Some teachers in the college campus were seen motivating student leaders to carry out protest against the decision on formation of new university which may lead to increase in tuition fees later on.

College chief proctor Kaushal Kumar said that he opposes formation of new university because the existing service conditions of teaching and non teaching staff might be reversed later on by the State Government.

College principal Bhasin said that NSUI leader Bhatt along with some students met him and submitted a memorandum stating withdrawal of proposed university. His memorandum has been sent through fax to college management and State Government as well. NSUI member Veenit Bhatt said, “ This college should remain be affiliated with HNB Garhwal Central University or may get affiliation from Sri Dev Suman University. Formation of new university will lead to increase in tuition fees in the college which will put extra burden on poor students of the State.

Tyagi said that teachers are disagreed with the management’s decision on the formation of university comprised of cluster of colleges including DAV (PG) College, DBS (PG) College and Dayanand Women’s Training College because teachers concerns will be affected in future as well. “To discuss on this issue, we have called a meeting on December 28,” he added.
