Student leaders lock college gate to get demands met

To pressurise the college administration to meet their demands, the leaders of different student groups in DBS (PG) College protested and locked the college gate on Thursday.

Police reached the college after being informed by the college administration. Dozens of students led by ABVP member Pradeep Kumar protested and raised slogans against the college administration. Kumar said, “We are demanding that the  period of submitting admission forms be extended by six days, admission quota upto 10 percent for Uttarakhand board students should be increased; seats in science stream and other important courses should be increased and students belonging to disaster affected districts should be allowed to enroll themselves in the college if they approach the college administration a few days late”.

According to Kumar, he along with union members met the college principal OP Kulshrestha and submitted a memo stating these demands. Principal assured that their demands will be addressed, he added. Kulshrestha claimed that most demands put before him by the students were met.
