Gadarpur MlA Arvind Pandey who had reportedly called off his hunger strike on Sunday was kept under medical observation at ICU in Dr Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital in Haldwani on Monday.
Pandey, who had been languishing in Haldwani jail since September 7 started the indefinite hunger strike in the jail campus on October 6, protesting against the shutdown of a Gadarpur-based sugarcane mill.
The superintendent of jail, Haldwani TD Joshi said on Monday that Pandey had called off his hunger strike on Sunday. However, he is being treated in the hospital, he said, adding that he would be brought back to the jail after doctors relieve him.
He further said that his condition worsening due to his continuing hunger strike, he had been admitted at Dr Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital in Haldwani on October 9. He had been later admitted at ICU in the same hospital, he said.
