Strike of pvt hospitals unethical: DG health

Published on:

Alarmed over the lockout of the private hospitals, the state health department has geared itself to ensure that the people do not face much of problems on its count. The director general (DG) of health services, Dr T C Pant, said that the strike by the IMA is a clear violation of the basic essence of the medical profession.

Terming the protest against the Clinical Establishments Act of the IMA as ‘useless’, DG said that since the Act has been prepared by the Government of India under the Article 252, the State Government has no right to incorporate any change in it. He further said that the private hospitals and clinics have been given ample time of eight years to implement the provisions of the act. “Later, the High Court too has directed the State Government to enforce it,” he said.

He also took IMA to task for its decision not to register for the Atal Ayushman Yojana. “This is against the medical ethics,” he said. DG further said that the non-enforcement of the Act amounts to violation of PCPNDT Act.

He claimed that the state health department is committed to ensuring that the health services of the State remain unaffected by the shutdown call.
