The sensational crime that occurred at the residence of a circle officer at Vivekanand Village, Jogiwala, Nehru Colony, in the small hours of Saturday remains un-cracked, though police have succeeded to recover the car of the officer that was stolen after the burglary on Monday. The car was found abandoned at a parking lot in Haridwar district.
The burglary happened when the officer was in Almora on account of his being posted there. The accused are still absconding despite police claiming to be on the lookout for them.
Notably, the criminals had barged into the house of the senior police officer in the wee hours of Saturday, removing the grill and decamped with jewelleries, cash and a car.
Dehradun SP City Ajay Singh had said that following the direction of SSP, several teams, including SOG, had been formed to crack the case. Teams have been sent to various places, including districts of Western Uttar Pradesh. Teams are using GPS tracking and surveillance to trace the gang of criminals. However, success remains elusive.
