Acting on a tip-off, STF Uttarakhand arrested a notorious shooter Pratosh Kumar, alias Guddu, (29), native of Muzafarnagar, who was one of the three criminals that had fired on Deepali Dairy owenr Rajendra Kashyap in Roorkee in July 2016. Police recovered a bike, a country made pistol used for shooting the Dairy onwer Kashyap from his possession.
Sources asid that Deepali dairy owner Rajendra Kashyap had recieved a threat call demanding extortion from a criminal Praveen Balmiki on April 17, 2016. Balmiki is now languishing in Chamoli jail. On July 13, this year, three unidentified persons had fired on Kashyap near BSM College Roorkee. He had a narrow escape.
Acting on the complaint, a case under section 386 of IPC had been registered against the accused in Gangnahar police station.
State DGP MA Ganapathy had earlier directed STF SSP to crack the case at the earliest. P Renuka Devi, SSP STF formed a team to probe the case. Team members had reviewed CCTV footages recovered from the incident sites.
