In the high profile case of loot with property dealer Anurodh Panwar on the night of April 4, Special Task Force (STF) has asked permission from the police headquarters to file charge sheet against all three accused policemen currently under suspension. The case was handed over to STF on April 12 after the request for independent investigation from Garhwal Inspector General Ajay Rautela, whose government vehicle was used in the alleged loot. However, STF have not been able to recover the bag that was allegedly looted that night.
Director General (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar said, “The permission is a matter of formality. Whereabouts of the bag in question is still unknown, but we have sufficient evidence against all four accused.”
It is pertinent to mention here that in the high profile loot case, which according to the complainant was done under the pretext of checks and seizure for the enforcement of election model code of conduct, Congress leader Anupam Sharma, sub inspector Dinesh Negi, constables Manoj Adhikari and Himanshu Upadhyay were arrested by STF on April 16. According to the sources in STF, the bag in question which was allegedly containing roughly the amount of Rs one crore has been disposed of. STF has not only been unable to find the bag but is also uncertain about its contents.
The complainant property dealer Panwar himself could not give a concrete answer about the sum of money that he had claimed was in the bag. All three accused policemen have maintained in their statements that the black bag in question only had few clothes and bottles of alcohol. It will be recalled that the four accused in the case were earlier granted bail by the district court. PNS n DEHRADUN
