STF likely to file charge sheet today in high profile loot case

Two months after the arrests of four suspects including a Congress leader in the high-profile case of alleged loot on the night of April 4 from a property dealer Anurodh Panwar by three policemen, using the government SUV of Garhwal Inspector General (IG) Ajay Rautela, Special Task Force (STF) is likely to file the charge sheet on Monday. According to the STF, Congress leader Anupam Sharma was in on the loot conspiracy and the whole plan was hatched by him and accused sub-inspector Dinesh Negi. However, it is important to mention here that STF has failed to trace the black bag which was transacted and then later looted on the said night.

According to the sources, due to some technicality issue STF was delaying the filing of the charge sheet, but now after the clearance they will be filing it in the court on Monday.

It is pertinent to mention that the case was filed on April 10 and handed over to STF as an independent agency to investigate on April 12. After detaining and interrogating them for two days all four accused including Sharma, sub-inspector Dinesh Negi, constable Manoj Adhikari and Himanshu Upadhyay were then arrested by STF on the night of April 16 under the IPC sections pertaining to wrongful restraint (341), kidnapping (365), impersonating as a government servant (170), robbery (392) and conspiracy (120b). The accused cops were also suspended.

All four have been granted bail by the district court. Earlier their bail applications were rejected by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM).
