Weather conditions in Uttarakhand would continue to be dry till first week of January, something that would disappoint  thousands of tourists who come to the famed hill stations like  Musssoorie, Dhanolti and Nainital to enjoy flakes  of snow. The mercury, particularly the maximum, is likely to be on the higher side, though the minimum would settle at the normal or near normal, weathermen say.

Uttarakhand meteorological center director Bikram Singh said that there is no possibility of western disturbances in the next ten days which nullifies possibility of snowfall. However, mist might engulf some parts of plains, especially in Udham Singh Nagar district, on Tuesday while ground frost  is likely to be experienced  at some places in the hills of the state during the next 48 hours, he added.

Singh said that the maximum temperature and minimum temperatures were recorded 22.8 degree Celsius, two degree above the normal, and 8.0 degree Celsius, one degree above the normal, respectively in Dehradun on Monday. In Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded are 22.6 degree Celsius, one degree above the normal, and 7.0 degree Celsius, one degree above the normal, respectively.  In Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded are 14.7 degree Celsius, one degree above the normal, and 2.1 degree Celsius, one degree below the normal. In Tehri district, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded are 16.2 degree Celsius and 4.4 degree Celsius, he added.

He said that the weather forecast for Dehradun on Tuesday is clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 23 degree Celsius and 8 degree Celsius respectively here on Tuesday.
