State SP secretary quits over press meet row

Miffed over the State Samajwadi Party chief  Kuldeep Singh Rawat stopping him from holding a press conference to expose a scam in the power department, the State SP secretary Rakesh Barthwal  resigned  from his post on Thursday.

He said that stopping him from exposing the Rs 49 crore scam was immoral as he had collected information under   Right to Information (RTI) Act.  Interestingly, BJP leader Ravindra Jugran had supported Bathwal on the matter and  demanded resignation of MDs of UPCl and UJVNl. “Such order from the state party chief  is against the   party’s constitution. It affected  my freedom of expression.

This is why I have resigned from the post of the state general secretary,” he added.
