The committee constituted to choose the State song has finalized a song which according to it is fitting the bill perfectly. The committee, however, has decided to cut short the song and keep it for one and a half minutes. A formal announcement about the State song would be made on Tuesday.

The members of the committee held a brainstorming session on Monday to set the lyrics of the song to right orchestration. The President of the committee, laxman Singh Bisht ‘Batrohi’ and other members of the committee were present in the important meeting but celebrated folk singer and Vice President of the committee, Narendra Singh Negi was conspicuous by his absence.

To choose the State song of Uttarakhand the department of culture had constituted a twelve member committee. The committee invited entries from public on the song. Apart from Batrohi and Negi,  the other members of the committee are Hira Singh Rana, Atul Sharma, Diva Bhatt, Jia Nahtori, Jahoor Alam, Neeta Kukreti, Ratan Singh Jaunsari, Afjal Manglori and A Kharbanda. The Director culture is member secretary of the committee.  Controversy was created in the initial phases over the choice of language (Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari) for the state song. It was later decided that the song would be in Hindi with spattering of local words.

The President of the committee Batrohi told The Pioneer that the song would reflect the unique identity of the state and its exquisite natural beauty.
