Speaking on this occasion, Pandey said that “the nation can’t forget the sacrifices of Shaheed Udham Singh. We have got the freedom after paying huge sacrifices. Therefore, it is the duty of every citizen to preserve it.”

“We must take inspiration from the patriotism and sacrifices of martyr Udham Singh and work for the integration and unity and service of the nation,” he added. Officials led by CDO Dheeraj Singh Garbyal also paid floral tributes at the statue of Shaheed Udham Singh at the Vikas Bhawan Udham Singh Nagar, while SC Pandey, District Sports Officer, paid floral tributes to the martyr’s statue at the sports stadium in Udham Singh Nagar.

It was his affection for the mother land that led him to shoot the main accused of Jallianwalla Bagh massacre (that took place at Amritsar on the day of Baishakhi on April 13, 1919) General Dyer in England in 1940. That is why we all need to take inspiration from the patriotism of martyr Udham Singh and work for the integration and unity and service of the nation.
