State power officer's house robbed

A broad day-light robbery committed in the house of Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission officer in Raipur on Tuesday has once again caught the police unawares while leaving the locals insecure.

It is learnt that two criminals, faces covered with scarves, barged into the house at around 9.40 am. While the duo had confined a woman in bathroom they sprinkled chilly power on the eyes of another woman. The robbers decamped with cash and ornaments worth around `3 lakh.

The incident happening when high alert is in force in the state has exposed the chinks in the police preparedness to take on crimes and terror.

Police rushed to the incident site on being informed. They inspected the house while the forensic team was also sent to collect evidences related to the incident.

Ved Prakash, the house owner, registered a report, stating that the robbers had entered the house after his brother and he had left.

“They had locked the door of a bathroom where a woman member of the family was bathing. They also sprinkled chilly power on the eyes of another woman to stop her from resisting them. They looted ornaments worth lakhs of rupees while taking cash of around `7,000,” he said.

Acting on the compliant, a case under section 392 of IPC was registered against unidentified persons in Raipur police station, said a Raipur-based police officer.

He said that team has been formed at police station level to investigate the case.
