'State needs Rs1K cr to develop Gairsain infra'

Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Thursday said that the State Government needs Rs500 crore immediately to develop infrastructure in Gairsain and additional Rs500 crore in the next two years. While addressing the mediapersons, the Chief Minister said he will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. Once the funds are released, they would go in full swing to establish the required infrastructure, he added.

The State Government has managed to complete just 20 per cent of the work till now. To complete the remaining construction work, they need Rs1,000 crore, he said, adding that they would demand the Union Government to sanction it in two to three installments.

"We have made roadmap for the development of Gairsain.

For connectivity, we want to connect Gairsain from all sides and need to create infrastructure for water and electricity supply as well," he said

As far as permanent capital is concerned, the BJP is playing a diabolical game, he alleged. "While in power, they ignored two issues -- division  of property between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and  the matter of the permanent capital of Uttarakhand. They did not take decisions between 2000 and 2002 when the State came up and again between 2007 and 12 when again they were in power. Now, they are raising hue and cry. The reasons are clear for all," he said.

He also appealed to the media to write objective stories on the recently concluded Vidhan Sabha session at Gairsain.
