The State health department struggling with the strike of contractual workers of UPNl is now facing another strike, this time by class IV workers of the department. On Tuesday a delegation of the association of class IV employees of the department met the Director General (DG), health Services, Dr Kusum Narriyal. The delegation led by State president Manwar Singh Negi curtly told the DG that if their demands are not accepted then the department should prepare itself for strike from July 13.

Negi said that the department is sitting over the process of promotion despite of the fact that Supreme Court has ordered for the same on October 10, 2014. He said that resentment is brewing among the class IV workers due this inordinate delay of about two years.

Negi said that the type test for the promotion should be conducted by the department by July 7 failing which the employees would have no option but to start an agitation.

The association has decided that class IV workers would wear black arm bands and hold dharnas out the health directorate from July 8 to 11 and would hold gherao of directorate on July 12. On July 13 the association has threatened to lock the health directorate.
