The State BJP has accused the Congress-led State Government of wasting crores of rupees in the name of laying foundation stones for developmental projects on Sunday in all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, describing this mass scale unveiling of developmental projects across the hill State as a ‘poll gimmick’.
The State Government is conducting these foundation stone laying programmes in different parts of the district in view of the upcoming panchayat and lok Sabha polls, alleged Ajay Bhatt, leader of the Opposition in the State legislative Assembly, during his Kumaon visit here on Sunday.
The fact is that the model code of conduct is going to be imposed likely in a couple of days in the State and it may continue till May or June. Therefore, this Congress led State Government has gone for laying foundation stone of projects in a mass scale across the State, Bhatt further said.
But our concern is that even the ministers who are not responding to our queries on the pretext that they have yet not been given portfolios, are travelling in helicopters resulting in loss of lakhs of rupees to the State exchequer.
Instead of laying foundation stone of projects in such large number, the Congress led State Government could do well by spending the fund that it is wasting on the foundation stone laying ceremonies on rebuilding infrastructure and reaching out to the people in natural disaster hit areas in different parts of the State, further said the leader of Opposition in the State legislative Assembly.
