The State Government will soon bring a law to address the issue of Benami (anonymous) properties. Stringent legal provision will be enacted for confiscating the Benami properties so that the corrupt cannot thrive in the State, said chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He said this while addressing the gathering at a  programme held here on the weekend.

The chief minister said that soon a law will be introduced in the state regarding Benami properties which will be confiscated. Such confiscated Benami properties will be used for facilitating schools, hospitals and other public welfare facilities.

Rawat said, “All of us will have to fight against corruption like a crusade. Any corrupt person will not be tolerated whoever that person may be. We have always strived to provide a government which encourages our culture, works for development and is free of corruption. Today we are working quite strongly in this direction. I can say with confidence today that our government is completely free of corruption. Various steps have been taken to eradicate corruption. Action has also been taken against those found guilty of corruption. We are committed to facilitating development in all areas without bias and corruption,” said the chief minister. Rawat further said that within 10 months of investors summit the state had received about Rs 16,000 crore investment. This will provide employment for 40,000 youth. About Rs 40,000 crore was invested in Uttarakhand during the first 17 years after the state’s formation and that too when tax rebate and other facilities were provided under the industrial package. The ‘destination Uttarakhand’ event held by the State Government had attracted Rs 16,000 crore investment in the first 10 months after the programme. In the past two years, the State Government has taken various important decisions for Uttarakhand’s development. These include decisions taken with special focus on public health, mitigating migration, generating employment, facilitating water supply and other important aspects. In the Doiwala Vidhan Sabha constituency, the government has laid the foundation for CIPET, Coast Guard recruitment centre, maternity hospital at Harrawala and cancer multispeciality hospital. In the coming time, the whole state will benefit from these developments, he said.
