'State Govt machinery being misused'

Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and veteran BJP leader Maj Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri has alleged that the Congress-led State Government is misusing Government machinery during civic election.

He said that the signing memorandum with three private companies is clear violation of the model code of conduct during election. While addressing the mediapersons in a press conference held at state party office in Dehradun on Monday, Khanduri said that it is a matter of grim concern that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna is clearly violating the model code of conduct during civic polls.

He said that the party delegation will meet Chief Election Officer and register antipathy over violation of the model code of conduct. "It is a matter of grim concern that Congress-led state government is busy selling agriculture land to land mafias at much lower prices than its actual cost," he said, adding the Congress government is supporting land mafias in the name of development.

Khanduri also alleged that the development activities have come to stop in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand and the mountainous parts of the state lacks basic amenities like road, potable water, health and school facilities.

He also cornered the Congress-led state government for quashing the beneficiary schemes and projects, which were introduced during the BJP regime in Uttarakhand. Terming Congress' one year rule in Uttarakhand as complete failure, Khanduri said that the government is yet to take concrete steps for pushing the state further on the path of development.

According to him, Congress candidates will surely taste defeat in the civic polls as the state lacks basic amenities and the situation is worst in the mountainous parts of Uttarakhand. He also criticised the state government over deteriorating condition of law and order and further lamented over the increasing cases of corruption in the government departments. Mayoral candidate for Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, Vinod Chamoli was also present during the address.
