Kichha MlA Rajesh Shukla accused the State Government of being “anti-poor”. Speaking at a public gathering held at Indira Colony, the MlA said that he would work to get the problems faced by locals redressed without delay. The colony residents told the MlA that the district administration was trying to get some of them evicted from the colony. Shukla alleged that the administration was conspiring to evict some residents from Indira Colony, Chakferi, lalbagh and Fulbagh. He assured the public that he will not allow the authorities to harass any local and also talked to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat on the phone about this.
The MlA said that the administration should first ensure rehabilitation of the people before evicting them from the colony. He further alleged that the administration was harassing the poor following the recent incident in which a mentally affected member of a minority community had broken idols of various gods and goddesses at a temple in the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology campus. Taking cognisance of the demands raised by the public, the MlA announced that a 300 metre drain and road will be constructed and two public taps will be installed in Indira Colony.
