After cornering the State Government for not effectively executing the disaster relief works in the higher parts of the state, the leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Ajay Bhatt claimed that those villagers who are living in the fringe parts of the State are worst affected. He lamented that the Congress-led State Government has turned insensitive towards the displaced villagers.

While addressing the mediapersons in a press conference held at Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Ajay Bhatt, expressed concern over the callous approach of the State Government for not redressing the grievances of displaced villagers. “Despite the fact that considerable quantity of relief materials was sent to Uttarakhand for disseminating in the disaster-affected areas of the State, the State Government has not ensured the timely distribution of the relief materials,” he alleged, adding that the those villagers who are living in the remote areas of the State are on the verve of starvation in the absence of adequate supply of food grains.

After cornering the Congress-led State Government for its fake claim that bodies of the pilgrims and villagers were extracted from the Kedar valley, Bhatt said that the bodies of the victims are still being discovered in the valley. He also said that the Congress-led State Government has also failed to carry prompt rescue operations in the disaster affected areas of the State.

According to him, those residents who are living in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts of the State are among the worst affected. He also alleged that thousands of pilgrims had lost their lives as the state government has failed to stop the flow of pilgrims even after meteorological department forecasted about the heavy thundershowers in the higher parts of the State. After condemning the Congress-led State Government for contracting with the land mafias for mining in the riverbeds across the state, Bhatt alleged that the State Government is busy minting money instead of redressing the grievances of the displaced villagers, who faced the brunt of the natural calamities that rocked entire state in the month of June.

“Formation of Kedarnath Development Authority is clear violation of the rights of Kedarnath Temple Committee,” he alleged, adding that selection of only nine places at the Kedar valley would not solve the purpose as the entire area is reported to be badly demolished. Bhatt said that the despite the fact that the Rs75 crore was spent on the advertisement, the image of the Congress-led State Government is not yet improved. Bhatt also alleged that the State Government is not taking stringent action against the merchant after 1,000 relief sacks were impounded from merchant’s residence.

The leader of Opposition also cornered the State Government over the appointment scandal in the medical, health and family welfare department. After lamenting that the rescue works were not done in the right manner as it should be done, he alleged that thousands of pilgrims had died due to the insensitive attitude of the State Government.
