The verbal tussle between the ruling party and the Opposition continued on Saturday over the lokayukta Bill as the leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Bhatt demanded from the Congress-led State Government to call a special Vidhan Sabha session, if the State Government wanted to amend the Bill.

He said that the State Government has completely failed on all fronts. While addressing the mediapersons in a Press conference held at State party’s office in Dehradun on Saturday, Bhatt said that the Bill was passed during the BJP regime in Uttarakhand under the able leadership of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri and was unanimously passed in the Vidhan Sabha.

“The Congress-led State Government want to amend the Bill, which was signed by the President of India,” he said, adding that the State Government should call a special Vidhan Sabha session, if the Government want to amend the Bill.

Bhatt also demanded from the Congress-led State Government to enact the Bill as earliest in order to keep a tab on the corrupt Government officials and public representatives. He also demanded a high level probe as to why the Bill was not publicised despite the fact that the copy of the signed Bill was received weeks ago and also sought strict action against those Government officials, who did not inform the Chief Minister.

“The Congress-led State Government should resign on moral grounds as the State Government has completely fail to keep a tab on corrupt Government officials,” he said, and further stressed that the Bill is passed by the ruling and the Opposition party during the BJP regime in the State.

After cornering the Congress-led State Government for not taking affective measures for not redressing the grievances of those displaced villagers who faced the brunt o the natural calamities that struck Uttarakhand couple of months back, Bhatt said that the State Government is yet to introduce effective steps for rebuilding the infrastructure in the higher parts of the State.

Bhatt also expressed his concern over the Government employees’ agitation and said that the State Government should immediately call meeting with the agitators.

He also expressed his concern over the increasing cases of dengue fever in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand and further lamented that the State Government has failed to provide better medical and health care facilities, potable water, education to those villagers who are living in the mountainous parts of the State.

After expressing his antipathy over the callous approach of the Government for not reconstructing connecting routes and routes in the disaster affected areas of the state, Bhatt said that relief materials are yet to be disseminated in the disaster affected areas.

He also cornered the Government for quashing the beneficiary schemes and projects launched during the BJP regime in Uttarakhand. According to him, instead of introducing the beneficiary schemes for the upliftment  of the weaker sections of the society, the State Government supports land mafias.

Abhimanyu Kumar, Saurabh Thapliyal and Urba Dutt Bhatt were also present.
