Reacting to BJP Rudrapur MlA Rajkumar Thukral's visit to Vidhan Sabha and signing his attendance on Monday, BJP State chief and Chaubattakhal MlA Tirath Singh Rawat said that Thukral paid a visit to the Vidhan Sabha when the proceeding was adjourned and further lamented that the State Government is purposely harassing the MlA.

He said the BJP legislators also met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna months ago on this issue, but instead of redressing his grievances, the State Government is purposely harassing him. Accused of instigating a riot, Thukral has been declared absconder after having failed to secure bail. later, the leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Ajay Bhatt, lamented that the State Government is purposely amending the lokayukta Bill despite the fact that Uttarakhand Governor Dr Aziz Qureshi gave his nod

to the Bill. Bhatt alleged that the State Government is not taking effective steps for curtailing corruption cases. The Bill should have been enacted after receiving the Governor's nod in September last year, he said, adding the Congress-led State Gvernment is supporting land and mining mafias and not taking effective measures for redressing the grievances of disaster affected villagers.
