The State Government has not secured prioritisation of any tourism development scheme related to the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra for the year 2014-15.
This was revealed by the Minister of State (independent charge) for Culture and Tourism Shripad Yesso Naik in reply to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha by MP Tarun Vijay.
According to a statement released to the media by Vijay, Naik further said that the State Government had not yet presented a detailed project report for any of the tourism projects accorded priority for 2014-15. Due to the failure of the State to submit the DPR for development of eco-tourism at Motichur in Rajaji national park, the fund for this project has not been allocated.
The DPRs for reconstruction and development of Mukhba tourism circuit on the Gangotri route in Uttarkashi, construction of ghats in Haridwar, construction of Rain Baseras and public toilets in Pauri and Dehradun districts have not been received by the Central Government yet. Additionally, even the DPRs for ambitious projects like the Tehri water sports festival, international folk week, Sharadotsav and Panch Kedar heritage circuit have not been submitted by the State so far though these projects had been accorded priority for 2013-14.
The Tourism Ministry has provided Rs 217.23 crore central financial assistance in 2013-14 for 29 projects presented by the State Government so far. Of these projects, 11 are for reconstruction of disaster-affected Government property.
