State Government employees from various departments staged a protest rally to the Secretariat in Dehradun demanding action on their pending demands.

They have said that they will continue their agitation and boycott work from October 3 for three days if necessary action is not taken on their demands.Hundreds of State Government employees marched from the Parade Ground and passed through various city roads under the banner of Rajya Karmachari Sainyukt Parishad.

They were stopped by the police at a barricading near the Secretariat. There was a tussle between the protesters and police. After being stopped from reaching the Secretariat the protesters sat down on the main road and raised slogans against the State Government.  RKSP head Prahlad Singh said that discussions were held in the past with senior State administration officials on the pending demands of the State Government employees.

“Agreement had been reached on most of our demands. However, we are not ready to trust the Government simply on the basis of verbal agreement. RKSP members will continue their agitation unless we receive assurance in writing from the Government which should also issue a Government order to facilitate execution of actions to meet our pending demands,” he added.

The State Government employees earlier had 27 demands but action was taken by the State Government to meet four of their demands. Their 23- point demands presently include the removal of pay anomalies among State government employees, timely promotions, fixing the age limit for state employees at 62 years and other demands. The protesting State employees submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna through the administration.
